
Assessments Provided
Listed below are some of the assessments your child may receive. Please note this is not a complete listing of all assessments that can be provided, and the type of assessments used are based on the needs of each individual child.
Purpose
The WIAT is designed to look at how your child performs in school. Although it seems similar to an IQ test, it does not assess intelligence. The assessment looks at reading, writing, math, and oral language.
How is this helpful for schools
The WIAT gives school staff more information on areas your child may need more support in and how to provide the best support.
Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT-4)
Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC-3)
Purpose
The BASC identifies any behavior problems and/or diagnosis any possible mental disorders.
How is this helpful for schools
The BASC gives your child’s educators more information on how to handle and respond to behaviors. It is also a helpful tool for students that under consideration or are currently receiving special ed/504 services.
Purpose
The BRIEF looks at your child's ability to plan, focus, memory, and multi tasking skills. Utilizing input from parents and teachers the BRIEF is designed to assess abilities.
How is this helpful for schools
The BRIEF is a helpful tool in evaluating/diagnosing children with ADHD. It is helpful in understanding why your child makes the choices they make and help school staff better understand how your child learns.
Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF-2)
Test of Word Reading Efficiency (TOWRE-2)
Purpose
TOWRE measures reading fluency and phonetic decoding skills.
How is this helpful for schools
TOWRE is helpful in diagnosing possible learning disabilities such as dyslexia, learning disability, etc. It helps school staff in understanding if their current reading instruction is helpful to your child.
